Survival selfies
As the digital age progresses and social media sites like Facebook, Twitter, Snap chat, Kik and Instagram become part of our everyday life, it had become clear that a new type of photo has progressed; the selfie.
The selfie (a photograph that one has taken of themself) becomes more and more popular as the days progress, so popular it has earned its place in the dictionary. Many teens take selfies sometimes with friends, family or while doing some sort of activity. One selfie was of a man who just survived a plane crash and another was from an astronaut in space. But you don't need to be in a plane crash, or become an astronaut to take a selfie; anyone can take a selfie.
Two things teens are obsessed with? The zombie apocalypse and selfies. With this in mind you can’t take a selfie while in the zombie apocalypse if you’re dead. So, your goal would be to survive. How might you survive the zombie apocalypse, you ask? Stay fit.
You don't want to be the uncoordinated guy/girl who dies in the first five minutes because they weren’t fast enough or kept falling over. So don't be the first to die when the zombie apocalypse hits.
It's simple, it’s easy and you’re already half way there. It’s called a ‘survival selfie’.
The apocalypse hasn't quite reached us yet, so we have some time to prepare. Survival selfies are selfies you take while doing exercise in preparation for the apocalypse. (For 101 activities you can do, click the side bar). By taking a survival selfie not only are you doing what you know and love (taking selfies) but you’re also training to survive the apocalypse. It’s a win-win situation.
How to take a survival selfie:
1. Begin doing an exercise.
2. Take a picture of yourself doing that exercise (It doesn't have to be your face it can be an arm, hand, food, leg, ear. It just has to have some part of you in it).
3. Upload it to Instagram, Twitter, Tumblr, or email it to us and tag it using the hashtag survival selfie. (#survivalselfie).
4. Your photo then is uploaded to our gallery, which can be found on the side bar.
5. Then you are done!
There will be some awesome prizes for the best survival selfies (including T-shirts, phone cases etc.) and for whoever has the most survival selfies each month will not only be prepared for the Zombies but they will get a special reward and a trophy accompanied by a certificate that has one of their selfies framed on it.
Stuck for ideas of what activity you should do? On the side bar under ‘101 things’ there are 101 tips and ideas of physical activity you can do. Besides the incentive of surviving the apocalypse there are also other reason why physical activity is a major benefit to your life style. There are also many reasons why not being fit and active is a disadvantage. To find out more click the appropriate tools on the side bar.
Boot camps will be held on the first and third Sunday of every month. They have an entry fee of $5 and your workout will go for 1-3 hours. You can choose how long you wish to work out for. More information can be found under ‘Boot Camp’, which is also located on the side bar.
Each month there will be a challenge with the goal of one survival selfie per day, every day of that month. Anyone who completes this challenge will receive a certificate along with a drink bottle.
Don’t forget to stay sun safe and always wear a hat and have sunscreen on, keep hydrated because an unconscious person is perfect zombie food.
Ready to accept the ‘Survival Selfie’ challenge or do you feel like being zombie bait? Remember to tag your photos #survivalselfie.
